In addition to his acting work, Wellman's more than 50-year career includes writing and producing credits. On the production side, he worked on six television movies and pilots and two television specials. He served as developer, production consultant, and in various producer capacities on 9 independent feature films including, BILLY JACK GOES TO WASHINGTON (1977) and IT LIVES AGAIN (1978). Wellman Created and Executive Produced WILD BILL HOLLYWOOD MAVERICK (1996), the award-winning feature documentary on the life and times of his legendary father.

Wellman's writing credits include two television specials and 9 screenplays. His latest screenplay is C'EST LA GUERRE, a biography of his director father's life. His list of magazine articles includes FILM COMMENT, FILMS IN REVIEW, ACTION MAGAZINE, MEMORIES MAGAZINE and DGA NEWS.

Wellman has recently completed his first book, THE MAN AND HIS WINGS: WILLIAM A. WELLMAN AND THE MAKING OF THE FIRST BEST PICTURE for Greenwood/Praeger Books Publications.

Wellman does accept a few autograph conventions and lecture engagements.
